If you graphed my emotions for the day they would look like a cosine curve

For those of you who haven't had high school math for awhile here's a graphic image to aid in the analogy. My day started off pretty wonderfully despite being woken up by Becca and her friend giggling in whispers :) It turned out to be a very good thing, there's no telling how late I would have slept. I ate some pineapple and a pastry for breakfast, after sitting in bed for a little bit, enjoying taking my time waking up. At around ten thirty I realized that there was a ISA sponsored walk around Trastevere, which is the neighborhood I live in. I signed up for this walk, which started at ten thirty. I was still in my pajamas at this point, I totally spaced it, whoops. I got over it pretty quickly, and got ready for a day out and about. I had my tasty cornflakes for lunch, and left my apartment for the beautiful Rome weather. My Art gallery Management had a Gallery walk today at three o'clock, and I decided to head out a few hours early to find the meeting point, and then explore the area for awhile. On my way to the Gagosian gallery, the meeting place, a woman asked me for directions. This happens to me all the time in Rome, but this instance was different. I was actually able to help her. She asked me, "Dove via del corso?" (Dove is where). I scrutinized her for a moment before asking, "Are you English?" Her pronunciation was good, but the o from dove was long like the American o not short like the Italians. When I asked her this the look on her face was pretty comical, she was very clearly relieved to have found a fellow English speaker. The street she was looking for was where I was headed so I offered to walk with her. She has been to Rome on three previous occasions, and this was her vacation for the year. As it turned out she was looking for the Disney store to buy souvenirs for her grandchildren( I think, might have been nieces and nephews). Becca and I had just stopped in the Disney Store last week, so I knew exactly where she was headed. It was nice to have a connection with a complete stranger and to be able to help her on her last day of vacation. I continued on my way, and found the gallery with ease. While I was still at home I noticed that the trevi fountain was in the area, which I had yet to revisit. I decided to get gelato and people watch until it was time to meet. I went back to the gelato place from that first night, which is famous, and has a huge selection. I ordered coconut again, with strawberry (fragola) and ananas. The small cone is more expensive here, but they absolutely pile it on, and put whipped cream on top if you want it. The coconut was just as good as the first time, and the strawberry was amazing. I had a brain fart while ordering, and thought that ananas was banana, wrong, it's pineapple, which I think I would have like a lot more if that was what I was expecting to put in my mouth. It wasn't however, so that flavor was a bit weird for me. I walked over to the trevi where I finished my gelato and people watched. It was pretty packed, and I'm thinking I might want to go at some extraneous time of the night to have it all to myself. I was planning on getting a few awesome pictures to share here, but I forgot my camera at home, which never happens, second whoops moment of the day (the third is coming). As it drew near time to leave it started to rain, off and on sprinkling and steady but still pretty light rain. Then the wind kicked in and the sun went away and it got pretty cold. I was wearing a t shirt and flats, and I was both cold and wet up to my knees. It was pretty unpleasant, but the unpleasantness was balanced out by the incredibly contemporary and modern art that I was seeing. It was a wonderful reminder of one of the possible futures that awaits me. My favorite artist of the night was Stefano Tonelli. I can't find my favorite piece online, but this one is pretty amazing as well, the ones I really liked had blues and bright green as well. By the time the two hour turned three hour walk was over I was an icicle, I came home and hopped in the shower hoping to warm up, I was almost successful. Afterwards I had supper, and just hung out in the apartment by myself. All my roommates have headed out for various evening activities, I like the quiet of an empty apartment. I'm talking to my mother as I write this, who was telling me how much one of her clients enjoys my blog. I love hearing things like this, knowing that I have people that read first of all is great, and knowing that others genuinely enjoy sharing in my experience puts a smile on my face. Technology definitely makes it easier to stay in touch with our own cultures, and important people in our lives, and I'm so glad that I live in a time period that allows for that. It's always nice to talk to my mother, and a little strange to experience her doing so well with the computer :) but I'm very grateful for it. Tomorrow weather permitting will hopefully yield a trip to find Stu's hostel, and if not homework. Goodnight all, and if you see Margi Renihan, wish her a happy birthday, a little bird told me she's celebrating today.
