Hmmm ... Camels back day?

That's right its Wednesday, my Thursday for school weeks in Rome. Tomorrow is my last day of classes for the week, and not only that but they don't even start until three thirty. I'm very much looking forward to a day of sleeping in, and I have not given up on taking a warm shower, really anything warmer than ice cold. I just want to be able to stand under the water :S but that's enough complaining for one day. Today I arrived at school just in time for my first class of the day, the only one I had yet to experience. I was slightly apprehensive about how it would go as the professor sounded extremely stand offish in an email he sent earlier in the week. All fears were qualmed within the first two minutes of class. My professor, first off, dresses like he is a member of the boondock saints. (for all I know he could be one, I have yet to see the second movie) Also when he addresses the class he has a twinkle in his eye like he's thinking of something very funny, and we're not in on the joke. For the first five or ten minutes of class I tried to place who he reminded me of. It finally came to me, Andrew Lupkes. My professor's mannerisms are eerily similar to my good friend from Bv. They move their heads the same way, pace the same way, scratch their heads in exactly the same way. Another weird coincidence. In addition to an awesome professor, the course is going to be pretty amazing I'm willing to bet. It is a study of the people that live in Rome, or modern anthropology. I'm really looking forward to it. Really terrific classes like this that are going to make the semester fly by. I then had a three hour break before my next class, I live just far enough off campus that I would rather hang out, at least for now. So I ate my lunch (orange) and investigated hostels for Stu to stay in while he's in Rome, I've got it narrowed to two I believe, they still have to pass his inspection. I also looked more at spring break trip info, and I think I'm going to book my flights soon, before they get more expensive and fill up. For now I'm traveling alone besides my stint in London where I will hopefully be visiting Becca(the original). I'm ok with this, but I know it makes mother nervous. Also I'm thinking about tacking Milan on the end of the trip, as its cheaper to fly from Dublin(hopefully a stop after London and Glasgow on my spring break trip) to Milan, and then I can take the train back to Rome for free with my eurail pass. My second class for the day was Art Gallery Management which I also had on Monday. I'm really enjoying this class, and I'm really glad that we visited the contemporary museum of art in Chicago on Johnathon's birthday, its given me a great reference for the class. After class Becca, Leah, and I stopped by the grocery store. I replenished my fruit supply which was exhausted. Five apples and clementines. Breakfast and lunch :) I also picked up cereal for the mornings, as well as a large bad of chocolate chip cookies that were on sale ( might have been a mistake) they are delicious when dipped in milk. I also picked up pasta and sauce, I'm hoping to get a few dinners out of it. i was home by six thirty or so, and have spent the evening managing and organizing my schedule and course load based on the syllabus. I also got a chance to talk with my brother for nearly an hour and a half, it was pretty sweet, and made my evening pass pleasantly and quickly. I was contemplating going out tonight with two of my roommates, but now that I'm laying in my bed under my British Airways blanket (that I'm so glad I took on extended loan) I'm thinking another quiet night in will be best at this point in the game :)

  1. Yay, you have an airplane blanket too! They're the best. And...p.s. I'm glad I'm the original Becca! Whoo-hoo...writing in the dark is hard...I stalked your page and saw the site Derek told you about, I am not watching Leap Year :) Hopefully it works the whole way through. Cheers
